The snowless winter and spring poor in rainfall made it very dry in our forests. This results in great fire potential and therefore it is not excluded that the Mayor will be banned from entering the forests.

We associate the ban on entering the forest mainly with Pandemia 2020, when the government of Mateusz Morawiecki closed the forests and playgrounds in fear of the spread of coronavirus. Today this topic is coming back, although in completely different circumstances.

The fire in the Biebrza National Park is still going on, which broke out on Sunday afternoon. Dry grass and reeds came on, and the fire covered an area of ​​about 450 ha (i.e. an area of ​​about 600 football fields). Three weeks ago, firefighters extinguished a fire there, which covered 90 ha of protected areas, next week, when 8-9 ha burned down.

“The Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Ministry of Justice were obliged to develop a radical exacerbation of penalties for causing a fire (fine, arrest) under the Code of Offenses and the Code of Conduct in offenses” – wrote before Christmas at the X press spokesman of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

“We have a large moisture deficit in the soil after the winter, which was definitely dry and warm, despite the frost episode in February. It is dry and it can be expected that it will not absorb this water to the optimal extent.

The guest of the RMF24 radio said that he expected that if the situation is still progressing in the lack of rainfall in the larger tract of our country, The State Forests will undertake specific actions related to limiting access to forest areas. And he added: “For now, looking at these maps, we do not have a catastrophic situation. However, when this 3rd degree (red, meaning the highest level of fire risk in the forests), usually a ban on entering forest areas, he said.
