Ukraine will receive EUR 2.1 billion from Russian frozen assets


On Wednesday in Brussels, another meeting of the Council of the EU -Ukraine Association took place. On this day, there was also a payment of another tranche of EU loans, in the amount of EUR 1 billion, for macropinan help for Ukraine.
“At the same time, Ukraine will soon receive the rest of the first tranche of profits, i.e. EUR 1.4 billion, obtained from Russian frozen assets. Our goal is that the second tranche, EUR 2.1 billion, would be paid gradually from the end of this month” Kallas said at the conference.

She added that five new contracts with Ukraine were also signed in the margins of the meeting. “They cover various issues, from the reconstruction of Ukraine's energy infrastructure to participation in our Copernicus satellite program. Since the last meeting of the Council of the EU Association, we have also made great progress in the process of controlling the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with European law, and this is the first stage of accession negotiations” – she emphasized.
Estonka added that Russia's attacks on Ukraine have intensified since the arms suspension offer in the war and that “only Russia wants to continue this war”.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Szmyhal announced at a press conference in Brussels – where on Wednesday he met, among others with the EU economic commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis – that he talked to EU representatives about the need to extend the free trade period between Ukraine and the EU until the end of the year.
