President Andrzej Duda appealed in Thursday's message to Poles for the election of the president, who will be a strong voice of his countrymen. He also asked them not to be discouraged from voting, because – as he said – “they are not dirty tricks in the campaign, which unfortunately we observe, should decide about the future of Poland.”

Andrzej Duda appealed to the citizens to treat participation in the election not only as civic law, but also as a manifestation of common responsibility for their homeland in a television speech before the second round of presidential elections.
The president emphasized that this Sunday Poles would decide who would cover the highest office in the country, who will guard his safety, internal order and sovereignty. He emphasized that it would be not only a choice of a person, but also a path that Poland will follow for the next 5 years.
“That's why I am asking you today to treat this choice not only as civic law, but as a manifestation of common responsibility for our homeland,” said the president.
He added, when he took office, he swore that he would keep faithful to the provisions of the Constitution, that he would steadily guard the dignity of the nation, independence and security of the state, and the good of his homeland and the prosperity of citizens would always be the highest order for him. “And they have always been the highest order for me. They must also be for my successor,” said the president.
He emphasized that these words are not only a statutory formula, but they are also a commitment. “Everyone who is running for the honorable office of the President of the Republic of Poland must remember: the Constitution is not a set of provisions for any interpretation, it is a social agreement that should be respected. And the role of the head of state is firmly opposing, on behalf of citizens, every attempt to break or bend the law” – reminded Duda.
The president noticed that we live in dangerous times of war just behind our border, migration pressure and internal tensions. As he noted, therefore Poland needs a “strong leader, president who is a real patriot, defender of the Polish raison d'etat and a guardian of Polish cases.” “We need a person who knows the history of Poland, is able to draw conclusions from it and knows how to defend our country so that we do not have to be afraid of the stronger ones, but they are becoming more and more stronger” – he said.
According to Andrzej Duda, Poles also need a president who can make decisions in a sense of responsibility for the common good – not under pressure from ad hoc political interests or external influence. The president noted that he should also “support Polish families, protecting their needs and prosperity”, as well as strive for the security of the country, modernization of the army, strengthening borders and international relations.
“We need a president who will guard the dignity of citizens, building a community proud of his identity and over a thousand years of history. These were the foundations of my policy for the last 10 years. I believe that these values will also remain a signpost for my successor” – emphasized Duda.
He noted that the new president must have a strong social mandate from the nation. He emphasized that the higher the election turnout, the stronger the mandate of the president will be.
“Thank you to everyone who went to the election in the first round so numerous, and I appeal again: let's also take part in the second round of presidential elections. Please: do not discourage you. These are not dirty holds in the campaigns, which unfortunately we observe, should decide about the future of Poland, only citizens, according to our beliefs. We will choose who will be at the head of our state.”
He appealed to encourage family, friends and neighbors to participate in the elections, because every voice counts. “In real democracy, the power behind which the nation stands. And the nation speaks through the election. Let's choose the president who will be a strong voice of its compatriots. Long live Poland!” – said the president. (PAP)
