The triangle of highways of the Turzi

Turda municipality (Cluj County), established on the ruins of the ancient city of Potaissa, has just over 43,000 inhabitants and is known to tourists especially for Turzii and Salina Turda. It was, for a long time, a busy transit knot for those traveling to Cluj-Napoca, about 30 kilometers away.

From 2021, with the completion of the A10 Sebeș -Turda highway, the municipality has become one of the most important road infrastructure nodes.

The so-called “highways triangle” of Turzii, at the entrance to the municipality from Alba Iulia and Târgu Mureș, connects A10 (Sebeș-Turda), A3 (Târgu Mureș-Cluj-Napoca) and the national road 1. It was built about five kilometers from the city center, in the vicinity of Mihai Viteă.

The first highway to cross Turda – a sector of the Transilvania highway, between Turda and Gilău – was completed in 2010. The road node was completed in 2018, with the inauguration of sectors in A10. The Node from Tureni, whose completion is scheduled in 2025, is at the exit from Turda to Cluj-Napoca, near the Tureni Gorge.
