According to the newspaper Indian Express, the attack occurred on the lawn outside the road, and two or three militants took part in it. Immediately after the incident, a police group went to the place with the army and militarized formations in order to evacuate tourists, begin the search operation and find the militants who stood behind the attack. The publication notes that this is the first attack on visitors this year. The last attack of the militants also occurred in Pakhalgam in May last year, then two tourists were injured.

The chief minister Jammom and Kashmir Omar Abdullah commented on the attack on tourists on the social network H. He called the attack “disgusting”, and the attackers – “nonhumans worthy of contempt.”

“The number of dead is still being specified, so I do not want to go into these details. They will be officially transmitted when the situation is clear. It is unnecessary to say that this attack is much more large than any actions that we have seen against civilians in recent years,” the minister emphasized.
