Tourist protest before the Colosseum. The facility was closed while waiting for JD Vance

“Let us in,” called in Italian and English numerous tourists who learned that they could not visit the Colosseum because it was closed in the early afternoon due to the expected visit of JD Vance. Tourists with purchased admission tickets, among them many foreigners were not allowed.
Before the ancient amphitheater, around which – due to the planned visit of Vance – extraordinary security measures were introduced, chaos reigned and the voices of protest rose. Tourists kept their purchased tickets in their hands.
Ultimately, the American vice president, visiting with the Rome family, did not come to visit the Colosseum, which was later explained by other duties. His wife Usha came, whose entry into the amphitheater caused further loud protests. They later accompanied her visit.
Tourists were not allowed into the Colosseum
In connection with the polemic that occurred, the management of the Colosseum Archaeological Park explained that she had given the ticket to buyers a message about earlier closing at the request of the Roman police station. Tourists were also informed about the possibility of refunding. Tourist offices were also notified about the dismissal of the visit – the management assured.
However, this, as noted on Sunday, the daily “Corriere Della Sera”, did not calm people who planned to visit the symbol of Rome well in advance and bought tickets.
