A Russian Ka-52 “Alligator” attack helicopter was shot down by an FPV drone in the Donetsk region following an operation by Ukrainian forces, who also released images of the incident.
The strike was carried out by drone operators from the 59th Separate Assault Brigade, more precisely by the soldiers of the battalioni “Predators of the Heights”. Ukrainian military sources claim that this is the second destroyed Russian helicopter attributed to the same unit, in the context of the increased use of FPV drones on the front line, according to the Kyiv Independent.
Robert Brovdi, commander of the 414th “Magyar Birds” Brigade, said the aircraft had to make an emergency landing following the impact. He claimed that the crew tried to evacuate, but were later identified and neutralized by the operators of his unit.
Ukraine's General Staff says this incident brings the total number of Russian helicopters shot down since the start of the full-scale invasion to 350.
