President Zelensky talked to Donald Trump's envoys

The connection took place during a technical stopover in Chisinau.
“A very positive conversation. I'm grateful for them readiness to work as actively as possible in the coming weeks to revive diplomacy aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine. We realize how much world attention is focused on the situation around Iran, but our common goal of peace in Europe, remains on the agenda,” we read on Platform X.
“We discussed the prospects in the context of the G7 summit [15-17 czerwca we Francji] and other events in June. I presented the data we have regarding Moscow's intentions. “I am grateful for the words of respect for Ukrainians and the positive assessment of Ukraine's position,” Volodymyr Zelensky continued.
Zelensky's call to Trump's envoys
At the end of May, Zelensky expressed hope that Witkoff and Kushner would visit Kyiv. Both envoys were previously involved in mediation between Moscow and Kiev. As Reuters recalled, this process stopped at the end of February br. in connection with the United States and Israel's war against Iran. The conflict in the Middle East has distracted American diplomacy from talks on Ukraine.
At the same time, American negotiators maintain contacts with Kremlin representatives. Last week, Vladimir Putin's special envoy for investment and foreign economic cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, revealed that he had held talks with both envoys of the US president.
Three-day truce around Victory Day
Earlier, Witkoff and Kushner met with chief Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov. After these talks, the Russian side announced thata two-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. The armistice was valid from May 9-11, and its date was linked to the anniversary of the end of World War II.
