Revolution in full measure at AC Milan after the “devils” missed out on qualifying for the Champions League! The club announced that four people were fired from key positions: coach Massimiliano, CEO Giorgio Furlani, director Igli Tare and head of scouting Geoffrey Moncada.
The upheaval comes after AC Milan dramatically missed out on next season's Champions League places, at the end of a season in which they failed to win anything, while rivals Inter made the cut. AC Milan needed a win in the last leg against Cagliari to qualify for the Champions League. The “Devils” lost 2-1 at home after opening the scoring, and will go to the Europa League next season.
Heads fall at AC Milan: four people fired, Allegri on his way to Napoli
“After last season's disappointment, the owners' objective for the club was clear: to return to the Champions League and build the foundations of success and a consistent position at the top of Serie A.
For a large part of the season, we stayed in the top two places of the championship, with a real chance to compete for the Scudetto. However, the end of the season was well below the level we had shown up to that point and last night's disappointing defeat turned this season into an unequivocal failure.
It is time for a change and a deep reorganization of the club's sports department. The AC Milan terms of CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, head coach Massimiliano Allegri and technical director Geoffrey Moncada come to an end, effective now. We thank them for their work and dedication during their tenure at the club.
Announcements regarding the new appointments will be made as soon as they are finalized, with the aim of having a structure for the next season”, was the statement posted on the official website of AC Milan.
