DHL suspends deliveries to individuals in the US for parcels of over $ 800. What caused the measure

DHL Express has announced that it will temporarily suspend international deliveries to individuals in the United States, for packages of more than $ 800 each. The measure enters into force from April 21, 2025, as a result of recent changes in US customs regulations, which led to significant delays in the customs process.

According to an announcement published on the company's website, quoted by Reuters, the new rules require all deliveries of over $ 800 to go through a formal customs process. Until the modification introduced on April 5, this threshold was set at $ 2500.
DHL said that deliveries between companies (business-to-business) are not suspended, but may be delays. Only business-to-consumer (B2C) deliveries are suspended. In contrast, packages with a value below $ 800, whether they are sent to companies or consumers, are not affected by new regulations.
DHL Express points out that this measure is temporary and has promised support for affected customers.
In a previously transmitted response to Reuters Agency, DHL said it will continue to process Hong Kong to the USA “According to applicable customs regulations” And that he will work with customers to help them adapt to the changes to enter into force since May 2.
The decision comes in the context in which the Hong Kong post has recently announced the Suspension of Delivery Services to the US, accusing Washington of “intimidation”as a result of the customs tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. The measure has entered into force immediately for the correspondence sent by maritime and will be applied from the end of the month in the case of air transport.
