April 20, 1920

On this day, a Soviet writer, journalist Bader Khaim Volkovich, was born in the town of Font (Vinnitsa region). In 1933 he graduated from the local Jewish seven -year school and the next year he became a student of the Odessa Jewish pedagogical technical school, then transferred to the last year of the Zhytomyr Jewish pedagogical rabfak. Haim Bader made his debut with a poem in the Central Jewish Children's newspaper “Zay Grat!” (0+).

Since the mid-1970s, Khaim Voalkovich has been studying the history of Jewish classical and Soviet literature.

In the early 1970s he lived in Birobidzhan, worked in the newspaper Birobidzhaner Stern (12+). In the Almanac “Birobidzhan” (6+), the article “70 years of the Jewish theater” was published. The book “Roads that we choose” (6+) included essays and essays about Birobidzhan. From 1973 to 1991 he worked as the head of the department, deputy chief editor of the magazine “Soviet Gamland” (12+), published in Yiddish.

Bader was a real keeper of Jewish culture, national memory, knew by heart hundreds of biographies of Jewish writers, the best of whom were his teachers and friends. He is the author of about 1 thousand articles about Jewish writers in the Russian Jewish Encyclopedia (12+).

H.V. Bader is a member of the Union of Writers of Russia, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, Laureate of the Literary Prize named after the Atran of the World Congress of Jewish Culture and the prestigious Israeli Literary Prize named after David.

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) on April 20, 1937, under the section “In the city and the region”, tells that the women of the Birobidzhan station activists completed the embroidery of the Birobidzhansky Station panel. A panel size of 1.53×1.20 meters depicts the Birobidzhasky station against the background of a large hill. Around the Kaim of Jewish ornament. The panel was embroidered in 15 days.

“After the panel is exhibited at the road and all -Union exhibitions dedicated to the meetings of the wives of transport workers, it will be sent by the station activists as a gift to the People's Commissar of L.M. Kaganovich.”

The newspaper informs the residents of the region and the city that the construction of the house of justice has been completed in Birobidzhan.

“The building is two -story. It will have a regional and people's courts. There is a special court of court for 300 seats. The premises of the judicial authorities will be well equipped.”

On April 20, 1938, the Birobidzha Zvezda newspaper, on a large turn, published an article “Ten Birobidzhan”, which tells about the territory of the region, climate, its minerals and what has been made by immigrants for 10 years.

“The territory of the Birobidzha district, allocated by the government for the settlement of the Jews by workers, was 36.492 sq. Km., That is, exceeds the territory of countries such as Belgium, Holland.”

In the Jewish Autonomous Region along the railway line from the Londoko station to the west for tens of kilometers, multiple reserves of limestones. Near the Birakan station in the direction of the Kuldur resort, there are several magnesite deposits, multiple reserves of high -quality colored marble. In the EAO, deposits of roofing shales, mica, asbestos and other minerals were identified. There are also several graphite deposits in the region. In the area of ​​the legendary Volochaev hills, manganese ores were identified. In the entire southwestern part of the mountains of the Small Hingan, gold deposits are scattered. The most powerful deposits of iron ores lie in the region.

In several areas of the region there are mineral springs with healing properties.

“This is the Hungary, Tulovsky, Kuldur. The largest are Kuldur hot springs with a constant temperature of 71 degrees Celsius.”

On the territory of the Freud community center in Birobidzhan, a granite stone was installed in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The monument is made of black marble in the form of a huge fragment, symbolizing the grief about six million Jews who died during the Second World War. On its front side, the six-pointed Molendovid star and the inscription: “Memory of the victims of the Holocaust. 1933-1945” is carved.

This was the first monument to the victims of the Nazi regime of 1933-1945, the date of all other mournful obelisks indicated the date since 1941. As it is in Jewish tradition, small stones are brought to this monument.

The memorial stone is established with the support of the Government of the EAO. Prior to this, there was no official place in the region where it would be possible to honor the memory of Jews tortured in concentration camps and ghetto. In total, about 100 ghetto prisoners lived in autonomy.
