Trump warns that the US will say “step” soon if an agreement in the Ukraine will not be reached

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States will resign to the peace discussions on the Ukraine war if there are no rapid progress from Moscow and Kiev, AFP and Sky News reports.
The US president was asked by reporters at the White House in relation to the statements of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who earlier on Friday had threatened that the United States would withdraw from mediation efforts and “will go further”, if they find, in a few days, that peace “is not possible”.
“Yes, in a very short time,” Trump replied to the reporters in the Oval Office, when he was asked to confirm what Rubio said. “Not a specific number of days, but very fast. We want to reach an agreement.”

Trump refused to blame either Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ordered the widespread invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 or the Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelenski. But he insisted that both camps have to make progress.
“Now, if for some reasons one of the two parties will make it very difficult (reaching an agreement), we will only say:” You are ridiculous. You are ungrateful. You are horrible people ” – and then we will say step,” said Trump.
“But let's hope we won't have to do this,” he added.
Trump has repeatedly praised, before returning to the White House for a second presidential term, that he will end the Ukraine war in 24 hours. In connection with this, he recently claimed that he was ironic.

Trump has also denied that he is “fooled” by the Kremlin leader, former KGB agent, who insisted that Russia would invade the neighboring country until the eve of the invasion.

“All my life has been a big negotiation and I know when people play with us and when not,” Trump said.

Asked if he believes that the Russians are playing with the US, he replied, “No one is playing with me. I try to help.”
The US president continued to say that “we have a very good chance” to reach an agreement. “A critical moment is approaching,” he added.
