A recent opinion poll shows extremely worrying signs for Viktor Orban just 13 days before the election

In several constituencies previously considered clearly favorable to Orban's party – Fidesz, the candidates of the opposition Tisza Party lead, according to opinion polls in the constituencies conducted by the Tisza-run Research Center 21, writes Hvg.hu publication.
It is the Baranya County 2 constituency, based in Pécs, that of Borsod 1, the 9th district transformed from Pesta (Ráckeve, Tököl, Dabas), the Fejér 2 district, based in Székesfehérvár, the 6th district of Bács, while a close fight is expected in the Pest 12 constituency, centered in Cegléd.
These constituencies had been won separately in the past by Orban's party.
Tisza, strong advantage at national level as well
At the same time, a poll published last Wednesday showed that Hungary's center-right opposition party Tisza consolidated its lead over Fidesz, the party of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in March ahead of the April 12 election, Reuters writes.
The poll, published by the website hvg.hu, showed the Tisza party gaining ground, while support for Fidesz is stagnating, despite numerous measures to please voters announced by the government after three years of economic stagnation.
Tisza, which was only launched in 2024, widened its lead over Fidesz to 23 percentage points among decided voters, up from a 20-point lead in the February poll, pollster Median said.
Led by Peter Magyar, Tisza enjoys the support of 58% of decided voters, up from 55% a month ago. Fidesz is supported by 35%, unchanged from February.
If we look at the entire population, Tisza is rated at 46%, while Fidesz has 30%, according to the survey conducted between March 17 and 20.
The Median Institute expects a high turnout, as 89% of respondents said they would vote. In the last election in 2022, turnout was 70%.
Median Polling Institute has one of the strongest track records of accurate forecasts in Hungary. He correctly predicted Orbán's landslide victory in the last election, four years ago, although he slightly overestimated the support given to the opposition, Reuters also notes.
