The government in London hopes to conclude a commercial agreement with the Trump administration, which imposed a 10 % duties on most British goods imported to the USA and higher 25 % rates for imported cars, steel and aluminum.
– Leaders began by discussing ongoing, productive discussions between Great Britain and the United States on trade (…). They also discussed the situation in Ukraine, Iran and recent actions against Huti in Yemen – a spokesman for Starmer's office told journalists.

The White House also informed about the conversation. According to him, Trump raised with Starmer the issue of “ongoing conversations to peacefully end the conflict in Ukraine.” The US President also expressed joy because of a visit to Great Britain planned for this year.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously stated on Friday that the United States would resign within a few days to bring peace between Russia and Ukraine, if there are no signals that an agreement on this matter is possible. Trump confirmed that he would move away from the conversations if he did not see “enthusiasm” on both sides.
