The agreement in the form of the exchange of notes was signed by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergey Marchenko and the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Odaguma.
The loan will be served and repaid at future income received from immobilized Russian sovereign assets. The raised funds will be directed to support priority budget needs and promote the restoration and development of Ukraine.
“Japan is a striking example of international solidarity, becoming one of the leading partners of Ukraine during our struggle for freedom and dignity. The signing of today's agreement will not only contribute to ensuring our urgent budget needs, but will also become another confirmation of the sincere devotion of Japan to the common values that our countries unite,” Marchenko said.
According to the minister, over the past three years, Japan has already provided budget support to Ukraine in the amount of over $ 8.5 billion.
