In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, novice authors on samizda platforms are more actively read by young women

Yota analysts studied users' interest in online reading. It turned out that samizda platforms are gaining great popularity, which allow the authors to publish their works and sell them to readers directly, bypassing traditional publishers.

Based on the impersonal data for the first quarter of 2024 and 2025, analysts managed to find out that the number of users of online services for reading books increased by 10 %. At the same time, the lion's share of the increase was provided by the samizda platform-they accounted for 62 % of the new readers, while only 38 % attracted classic electronic libraries.

The dynamics of Internet traffic consumption also speaks in favor of services for novice authors-for the year the volume of data consumed by users of samizda services increased by 30 %, while the traffic of classic book platforms increased only 2 %. Particularly indicative statistics on time spent on resources: for samizda sites, this figure grew by 24 %, and in traditional services, on the contrary, it decreased by 6 %.

Among the Krasnoyarsk residents are the most active users of samizda services-people of 26-35 years old-they account for 29 % of traffic and 24 % of the entire audience of such platforms. At the same time, the female audience prevails on classical services (56 %), and the male-on samizda platforms (53 %).

Most of all, the residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod use samizzd services. The TOP-10 in terms of average traffic also included Chelyabinsk, Krasnodar, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk, Ufa, Kemerovo and Vladivostok. Traditional online libraries are most popular in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Kemerovo and Chelyabinsk.

The press service of Megafon confirmed the increase in the interest of the Siberians in the online reading. From January to March, traffic on classical services of electronic libraries and samizdat-plaftorms increased by 14 %, and the number of users of samizda platforms increased by 15 %.

The residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory turned out to be the most active, showing an increase in a year by 13 %by a year. From the total volume of traffic, the Krasnoyarsk residents took a share of 26 %. Then the inhabitants of the Kemerovo (16 %) and Novosibirsk regions (15.5 %), as well as the Altai Territory (14 %) and the Irkutsk region (9 %) follow. Among the book platforms, Liters occupies the first place in terms of traffic consumed – over a year it has become more popular by 35%. This is followed by Patephone.com and MyBook.ru. The top 5 also included Author Today and Litnet.com.
