The EU Commissioner for Trade Marosz Bossovicz on Monday began another visit to Washington, where he would negotiate issues related to the duties imposed by the United States, but partly suspended last week. On Tuesday, the Union's decision to suspend duties on the USA will enter into force.

The spokesman of the KE Olof Gill informed PAP about the start of the visit.
Bossing returned to Washington after last week President Donald Trump announced a suspension for 90 days of the so -called mutual duties, which were to be 20 percent. However, 25 % remain in force. The rates applied by the US on steel and aluminum and the car industry.
Meanwhile, the European Commission announced on Monday that on Tuesday a decision would enter into force to suspend retaliation duties on the part of the EU. “The Union has suspended remedial activities against unjustified American trade tariffs to give time and space to negotiations between the EU and the US,” the EC emphasized in the communiqué.
It is about the suspension for 90 days of EU retaliation duties announced by the chairwoman of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen to the United States last week. In this way, the EU was to respond to tariffs applied by Trump on steel and aluminum. Although these duties remain in force, the Union gave up retaliation to “give negotiations a chance”.
The EC issued two decisions on Monday: on the implementation of retaliation duties and their suspension. They include American goods, whose import in 2024 amounted to over EUR 21 billion – just a fraction of the value of goods imported from the EU to the US, which was to be covered by Trump's duties.
The EU suspension will apply until July 14.
As von der Leyen revealed a week ago, the EC proposed the USA in the trade negotiations to date, including Introduction of mutual rates at zero level for industrial goods.
