The white house counselor on trade issues, Peter Navarro, ignored the insults on Sunday, saying that “Elon and I are great,” after the public dispute they had the theme of radical tariffs announced by President Donald Trump, reports Reuters.
Elon Musk, a close relative of Donald Trump, called “Idiot” on Navarro earlier this month, given that the presidential counselor rejected his proposal on the implementation of a “zero rates” policy between the US and Europe. In reply, Navarro told Musk, CEO of Tesla, that it is a “car assembly” whose cars depend on the import of parts.
Asked at the NBC about Elon Musk tensions, Peter Navarro said: “It's not a problem.”
“Even though you call you” idiot “and” worse than a bag of bricks “?”, He insisted the moderator of the show.
“I was called even worse,” the presidential adviser replied.
“Everything is fine with Elon. And here, Elon does a very good job with his team regarding waste, fraud and abuse,” continued Peter Navarro, referring to the activity of the billionaire at the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge).
“This is an extraordinary contribution to America and no man who does such things should be subjected to the foolish attack on his cars,” the official added, this time referring to the acts of vandalism that targeted Tesla infrastructures and offices in response to Elon Musk's right activism.
President Donald Trump designated Elon Musk, the richest man in the planet, to reduce the level of government spending and the size of the federal apparatus. In the country there were more and more tensions regarding Musk's approach. Nearly 200,000 employees were dismissed, their contracts will be concluded or they have accepted compensation to give up positions.
The spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, minimized the public dispute between Navarro and Musk this week, saying it is just a difference in vision and that “boys are boys” (“Boys Will Be Boys”).
