No details were given about the content of the conversations, but the topic was to be the future of the Iranian nuclear program.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Iran also talked about the positive tone after the talks, who assessed that the US authorities were as possible to reach the agreement as quickly as possible. In an interview with Iranian television after Saturday negotiations, however, he did not specify what exactly was discussed in the capital of Oman. He only said that the parties are “very close” determining the scope of future negotiations.

Witkoff said before the talks said “Wall Street Journal” that the US starting position in negotiations is the complete disassembly of the Iranian nuclear program, but signaled that he was willing to go to concessions and compromise, but stated that “the red line” for Washington is “the use of Iran's nuclear abilities as a weapon.”

After in his first term President Donald Trump led to the collapse of an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program (JCPOA), this time he himself initiated talks with Tehran. At the same time, he threatened with potential use of force if they did not bring results.

The White House announced that the first meeting was aimed at checking if Iran wanted to talk in good faith. The next talks are planned for the next Saturday, April 19.

The meeting lasting over 2.5 hours in Maskat took place in the intermediate formula – each of the pages stayed in a separate room, and the news between them was transmitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr Al -Busaidi. Aragczi said that after the end of this part he personally talked with the head of the American delegation, a special envoy of President Trump for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. The head of the Oman Diplomacy also participated in the conversation.
