“Continuing the constructive approach set at the meeting on February 27, delegations of the US and Russia mentioned the views to finalize an agreement aimed at ensuring the stability of diplomatic banking for Russian and American bilateral missions” – wrote in a message from conversations.

“The United States repeated their fears about the policy of the Russian Federation prohibiting the employment of local staff, which is the main obstacle to maintaining a stable and sustainable level of employment at the US embassy in Moscow” – added.

The United States was represented by the deputy assistant of the Secretary of State for Russia and Central Europe, Sonata Coulter, and Russia by Ambassador in Washington Aleksander Darczijew. Both sides discussed the possibility of another meeting. It would be a third such meeting.

As the US Department of State emphasized before, only the issues of the functioning of diplomatic missions and mutual restrictions imposed on them were to be discussed, and not a broader normalization of relations or the issue of war in Ukraine.
