The Krasnoyarsk Musical Theater presented the audience with the new musical “Scarlet Sails”, created based on the story of Alexander Green.
In the musical, a story familiar to everyone from the school bench about the love of the young Assol and the young aristocrat Arthur Gray is represented in a new light. The chief director of the theater, Jamma Avetisyan, rethought the characters of the heroes of the classic work and placed the accents in such a way that the modern viewer was truly interesting to observe the development of the plot. The daughter of old Longren no longer wears light chintz dresses, but confidently walks towards her dream in mixed trousers. Restlessly waiting for the “prince” is now not in her rules.
“There was no task to radically change the plot of a classic work. We just wanted to fully reveal the essence of the characters and the design of the author. When the team and the team worked on the production, true human destinies, lives opened to us. After all, in fact, we all have a dream, some kind of global goal. And every morning we get out of bed, perform certain actions in order to at least get closer to the fulfillment of our cherished desires. Also Assol, only in the case of the heroine, this process takes only two hours of stage time. And not like you are with us for many years, ”said Jamma Avetisyan.
On the stage of musical, the viewers appear before the audience, a panorama of the port city, whose inhabitants do not believe in stupid, in their opinion, fairy tales and prefer to paint everyday life in the tavern. They sincerely consider the main character to be crazy and do not hesitate to tell her about it in person. But Assol does not give up to the last, the young girl stubbornly teaches a semaphore alphabet and every day comes to the lighthouse in the hope that Gray will notice her signals and moor on the bay.
The musical basis of the performance is the work of the outstanding Russian composer Maxim Dunaevsky. Transforming decorations are given a special atmosphere on the stage: huge walls, which either abruptly become transparent, opening a marine landscape in front of the audience, then turn into massive houses and clip space. However, you will not find the usual red sails here, they decided to abandon them in the theater. But there are almost 300 plastic boats and a lighthouse in a lobby on the second floor, with which anyone can take a picture.
It should be noted that tickets for the first shows of “scarlet sails” in the music theater, unfortunately, have already been dismantled, but the Krasnoyarsk spectators still have the opportunity to get to the performance in April.
