The candidate of the ruling coalition in the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, said at Europa FM, that gold leads in the polls made for the intention to vote on the parties, but the Coalition candidate believes that the “old armed” of the PSD and PNL will start again and change the situation.

Invited to comment on the electoral impact of the scandal related to Victor Ponta's statement regarding the voluntary flooding of some localities in Romania, Crin Antonescu said: “I do not know if voters, people who have voted so far, of Mr. Ponta, will not vote. My candidacy, ”said Antonescu.

According to Crin Antonescu, “PSDs are the largest party in Romania in the last elections, but there are not as many as before.” “We are talking about polls. We are now looking at the presidential candidates, but surveys are also done, to know. And in those polls, I'm sorry to say, gold is a detached leader. With two in front,” said Antonescu.

Asked if the PSD decreased below 2 in front, Antonescu replied: “Almost two, yes. 18, 20, 22. Gold is in front, some polls gave it to 25, 27. Detasted. 3-4 points already. The PNL also struggles somewhere, 12-15.

Regarding the intention to vote for him in the presidential elections, the former president of the PNL is quoted in the range 20-25%. Asked if the score is not too small considering that it is supported by three games, Antonescu said there are more explanations.

“The electorate of the parties is not confused with any candidate would have had, that probably some voters from this pessimist fund could have an option for Mr. Ponta, that voters from the PNL basin can have an option for someone else, for Mrs. Lasconi or Mr. Nicuşor Dan. Calin Georgescu.

According to Antonescu, “in the next period, the old PNL and PSD armed again and this thing will feel with each day of the campaign”, although these parties are tired after the election year 2024, and the shock suffered at the presidential is still felt.
