Rafila promises 25 centers in which thrombectomies will be done – medical procedures that can save the life of patients at risk of stroke

Ministry of Health and The university centers prepare doctors from certain specializations to achieve thrombectomes, in order to save the life of patients at risk of stroke. The module lasts one year, at the end of which a certificate is obtained that allows certain specialists to remove the thrombi. The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, says that there will be such regional centers in the first phase, then there is an intention to make 25 centers in the country, according to news.ro.

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, said in a profile conference on Thursday that, in treating cardio-cerebro-vascular pathologies, the preparation of the human resource is essential.

“Qualified human resource, which, if the case of thrombolysis is somewhat easier to find, in the case of thrombectomes, interventions that lead to the removal of thrombi, which represent the source of strokes, there is a certain limitation. I refer to a professional limitation. We develop a certificate (…) Several specialties, neurologists, neurosurgeons, intervention cardiologists, ATI, can do this certificate to develop a qualified human resource that exist at least at the initial regional level and then we have about 25 such centers throughout the country, ”said Alexandru Rafila.

“Here we do not necessarily talk about specialized personnel, but we talk about qualified staff, for example, who can do thrombectomes,” Rafila said.

According to the minister, it is a one -year -old module that doctors from different specialties follow that can make such interventions.
