We started talks about the EU budget at 2026. At the negotiating table, three Poles – they represent the parliament, the EU Commission and Council.
This is a historic moment – we have a real impact on how billions of euros will be spent.

Halicki, who represents the PE Budget Committee, reminded that the Chamber adopted the assumptions for the EU budget on April 2 on 2026. He announced that on Wednesday three EU institutions: EP, the EC and the Council began negotiations on this topic. “We have strength,” the MEP recognized. “It will be fine,” Bartol added.
The annual EU budget determines all expenses and revenues for one year under the so -called seven -year budget perspective. The assumption adopted by the EP is to be the EC guidelines on April 2, which is responsible for the preparation of annual budgets' projects. The project for 2026 will be presented in June this year. Then he will have to be agreed by the end of the year by the European Parliament and the EU Council, which is chaired by Poland in this half -year, while in the second it will be Denmark.
Expenditure possibilities in the budget for 2026 will be very limited, because it will be the penultimate budget in the financial perspective for 2021–2027.
In the assumptions to the budget, however, the MEPs emphasized that “in the face of significant geopolitical changes and deteriorating effects of climate change, the EU budget still plays a key role in ensuring stability to Europeans, supporting established policies and implementing strategic priorities such as defense and security.” (PAP)
