Romanians who want to go to the United States and request a temporary visa must present a printed copy of the confirmation page with the bar code, to prove that they have used the same application form for programming the interview. The change comes into effect today, April 7. We remind that on March 25, the United States government announced that it revises the recent inclusion of Romania in the visa exemption program (Visa Waiver) to “ensure its strict security requirements”, despite the fact that it had to enter into force from March 31.
In an update on the DS-160 form and the requirements of programming the interview for visa applicants, the US Embassy in Bucharest announced that, in order to strengthen the security of the visa and to prevent fraud, starting Monday, April 7, 2025, all applicants for temporary American visa must present a printed copy of the confirmation page, which will be used to confirm with the program.
Prior to the interview, the US visa applicants must check if they have completed and sent the DS-160 online form and ensure that the bars code on the DS-160 confirmation page coincides with the one used to program the interview.
If the numbers do not match, the applicants who have scheduled their interview using an incomplete or incorrect form will not be allowed to hold the interview and will be asked to reschedule their interview through UstraveldoC.com/en/, using the corresponding DS-60 bar code number.

“Please note that the consular section cannot modify or update the DS-160 bar code numbers on behalf of the applicants. Make sure that the bar code number is the same to prevent delays and facilitate the smooth running of the interview,” the US Embassy reports.
