Peter Navarro, the main counselor of President Donald Trump on the trade area, rejected Elon Musk's plea on Monday for “zero rates” between the US and Europe, saying about the CEO Tesla that it is an “car assessment” that is based on parts from other states, reports Reuters.

Navarro, considered to a large extent the architect of President Trump's tariff plans, told CNBC that Elon Musk did a good job in the efforts to make the government more efficient, but his comments were not at all surprising because “he is a man of cars.”

“When it comes to rates and trade, we all understand at the White House – and the American people understand – that Elon is a car manufacturer, but he is not a car manufacturer. It is a car assembly,” said Navarro, who mentioned that many Tesla, China and Taiwan come.

“He is a man of cars. This is what he does and wants cheap pieces,” continued President Trump's counselor.

Elon Musk pleaded for “zero rates” between Europe and the US

Speaking in a video conference system at an event of the Liga right party, part of the Roma's ruling coalition, just a few days after Donald Trump announced mutual customs taxes for almost 60 countries, Elon Musk said he hopes that Europe and the US will agree to “a zero tariff situation, creating an area.

The US president has announced 20% general customs tariffs for the EU.

Tesla sales have undergone a sudden decrease in quarterly sales in the context of dissatisfaction with Elon Musk's activity again-Christma of government efficiency (Doge). The company's shares were traded at a level of $ 227.32 Monday morning, about half compared to the peak of a 52-month period.

Navarro said he did not talk to Musk after the weekend post, when the billionaire said that “the doctorate in the Harvard (Navarro, no) is a bad thing, not a good thing,” but said that they will probably be seen at the White House and said that Musk's statement “is not a big deal.”

Trump's adviser claims that the president's efforts are meant to bring production to the US, while Elon Musk relies on foreign parts to manufacture Tesla vehicles in the US.

“The difference consists in our thinking and that of Elon (…). We want tires made in Akron. We want transmissions made in Indianapolis. We want engines made in Flint and Sagina and we want cars made here,” concluded Peter Navarro.

On Monday, Elon Musk distributed a video promoting the benefits of international trade.
