In the morning, residents of the island complained to the authorities about periodic shutdowns and interruptions in electricity. Shopping, hospitals and cafes had to switch to electric generators, interruptions in water supply began.
The Minister of Energy said that The reason for the disconnections was the “monkeys that affected the transformer at the Panadur power plant.”
The authorities apologized for inconvenience and said that “measures are being taken to restore the supply of electricity.”
