Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu stated, questioned by journalists, that the patriotic system that must replace the one donated to Ukraine.

Where do the money for the donated system come from
Romania decided last year to donate a patriotic system for Ukraine, which was delivered in October 2024. The authorities then stated that the Romanian state will be compensated with another new patriot system.
In the case of funding, some of the money is donated by Norway. It's about $ 127 million. Another $ 27.1 million will come from Sweden, who joins the compensation.
The decision was approved in the CSAT on June 20, 2024, and Romania imposed the condition of obtaining a similar or equivalent system and also raised the problem of identifying a temporary solution to cover the operational vulnerability.
In fact, so far, Romania has contracted 7 Patriot systems, the state is to sign the contract for the eighth system.
