A politician from Königsberg about the Kremlin's actions. “He tries to use us as a foothold”
Today, Petrow talks about Russian drones in Poland, Russian-Belarusian maneuvers ZAPAD-2025, a situation on the Suwałki isthmus, and also speculates about the potential plans of Russia regarding Poland and Europe.
Piotr Olejarczyk, Onet: How do you assess the appearance of Russian drones in Polish airspace?
Wadim Petrow, coordinator of the Baltic Republican Party from Königsberg: it was not an accident. These activities should be seen as an attempt to check both Poland and NATO allies.
For me, the reactions of the NATO staff were crucial here, but also the reaction of politicians in the European Parliament and the position of generals of army neighboring countries with Poland, including Germany and Lithuania.
And what was crucial for Russia?
In my opinion, the Kremlin first observed the position of NATO, the USA, and then the reaction of the military commands of Germany and Lithuania. The third place was observing the position of politicians in Poland and the highest command of the Polish Army.

Do you see additional threats in such violation of Polish space by Russian drones?
Yes. It should be noted that 19 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles appeared over Poland. In my opinion, it was both an aircraft resistance test of the Republic of Poland and a recognition mission in favor of imperial Russia. Of course, I clearly condemn those actions that are an explicit violation of international law and violation of Poland's sovereignty.
How do you interpret the Russian-Belarusian military maneuvers-2025?
Military exercises in Belarus, partly in the Baltic Sea, as well as in Königsberg, should be considered as preparations for the war against Europe. Earlier, the issue of Suwałki was the theoretical character and was often the subject of expert speculation. Currently, however, it has gained a real, strategic significance.
What do you mean?
The Suwałki isthmus, located between Belarus and the Kingdom region, became a key point of defense of Europe. The Kremlin does not hide that he is preparing for aggression. This is evidenced by both the reconnaissance actions of the Russian army in the Baltic Sea and provocations related to the critical infrastructure of European countries. In Moscow, they cannot accept the fact that the Baltic Sea has become the inner sea of NATO.
What is the relevance of the King's region for Russia?
Unfortunately, the Kremlin once again tries to use my little homeland, the Kingdom region as a war bridgehead. In 2023, an advanced radio-listening station was established in Königsberg, equipped with an appropriate antennial system. For me it is a solution used in the so -called Cold War. This clearly shows that Moscow transforms the Kingdom region into a bastion against NATO.
You postulate the autonomy of the Kingdom region. What role can Poles and Lithuanians play here?
In my opinion, Poles and Lithuanians can have a real impact on many processes related to the Kingdom region. It is important, however, to understand that the inhabitants of Królewiec do not want war with their neighbors. They are open to dialogue with Europe without the participation of Moscow. I, as born in the Kingdom region and one of the leaders of the Baltic Republican Party, I declare readiness to cooperate and dialogue with Polish politicians.
What are your predictions about Russia's future activities?
You have to be aware that imperial Russia will not stop voluntarily. The Kremlin understands only the language of strength. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the unity of Europe and the solidarity of NATO to all provocations from Moscow.
