“Maybe here is my place, joy feels much better”

Magdalena Rusu (25 years old) will compete at the Shanghai World Championships (September 21 – 28) with Simona Radiș at double frames, a premiere for both. However, the results have been seen since they conquered the European title, in May.
At only 25 years old, Magdalena Rusu is an Olympic champion, a double world champion, and the European titles almost lost their string. There are eight in total, and the most recent was conquered this season, in the continental races in Plovdiv and in a unique test for her, the one of double frames.
Magda and Simona RadișOlympic, world and European champion in double rowing, met in a strong duo, and the results came quickly. At the first important competition together, the one in Plovdiv, conquered the Continental title, and a month later, at the World Cup stage in Lucerne, they repeated success.
Now is the turn of the World Championships, the most important test of the year. “We are both confident, we are convinced that we will give our best on the days of the competition and that at the end, when we pass the last line of arrival, we will be satisfied with us,” said Simona Radiș at the presentation of the lot.
With what thoughts she leaves for China her colleague and what she supposed to change the test, Magdalena explained in a short discussion for the GSP.
Magdalena Rusu: “A fruit of the tree I watered”
– Magda, the last important, most important, perhaps, perhaps the year is approaching. How will it be for you and Simona there at Shanghai?
-We want to be as a result of our work, more a fruit of the tree we watered and we hope to enjoy racing as we enjoyed at home and to have a race as a good time we have at home.
– It was a warm summer, but in a way it will be prepared for the conditions there, heat, humidity. How did you cross it?
– Yes, it was a very hot summer and I, one, I was enjoying this, because there the temperatures are really high, the humidity is very high. Here even if there were 42 degrees, the humidity was somewhere at 30-40%, well, there will be 100%approaching, but I enjoyed the heat I had or had. And we hope to cope well there. But if we are thinking, all the athletes will have the same conditions. So we are on a peer. It will be hard for us, it will be theirs.
– It's a long flight. You have had experiences like this. What do you do when you have to face a few good hours of flying?
– I don't do anything special, I'm just thinking about this time faster. There was another long flight to Tokyo, I understood that it is a little shorter and I hope to pass quickly. So much I want something else … to be fine.
– However, it was a change, moving from eight, from four to double double frames. Was it easy for you to move to another sample?
– It was a little difficult for me, which is right. I learned a lot to me, being in a crew of two people. As I said earlier, I was only in big four boats, eight and I took it as a challenge. Gradually, I liked it and I still like it and I would like to think that maybe here is my place. And as I feel all the tension now, the problems, that there are probably some problems, but these are passing, the joy feels much better in a small crew, from what I noticed, and I like it.

– Especially since the results came very quickly. That means you have managed to understand yourself in a rather short time.
– Yes, yes, the results came. I can not say that we were necessarily expecting them, only that we wanted and wanted to do the races we had exactly as we train at home, because it can happen that at the competition you will not be able to do the races you train at home. And for this I was happy, for this reason we were glad, because we went out with these races and I am happy, we started well and I hope to end as well.
– Thank you very much and much success.
– Thank you too.
