How much the damages required by the families of the Romanian young people taken in Italy are raised. “The suffering of parents was amplified by prolonged agony”

The families of the Romanian young people who died during the spill of the Torent Naisone in Italy, on May 31, 2024, demand compensation in a total value of 3.7 million euros for patrimonial, biological and moral damages, writes the Rotalian.

The relatives of the victims – Patrizia Cormos (20 years), Bianca Doros (23 years) and Cristian Molnar (25 years) – requests for damages to the Italian state and the Friuli -Venezia Giulia region, accusing that the rescuers' intervention was improper. Based on the principle of solidarity liability, the employers (the ministry and the regional authority) can be taken to civil liability for the facts of their employees.

We recall that the three young people were stuck on an island in the middle of the river, during a trip, after they were surprised by the sudden growth of the Waters of the Naisone river, in the town of Premariacco. The images with them hugged made around the world.

The bodies of the girls taken by the waters were found after a few days, and that of Cristian at more than three weeks.

The lawyer of the relatives of the victims, Maurizio Stefanizzi, submitted the constitution documents as a civil part in the criminal trial that has as accused on three firefighters and a medical assistant from Sores, accused of guilty murder in relation to the death of the three young Romanian.

“The suffering of the parents was amplified by prolonged agony. The young people died by drowning after more than 40 minutes of waiting for rescue interventions, and the families lived these endless moments of despair, as on television. This caused them an even deeper psychological trauma,” the lawyer said.

The requested damage, of 3.7 million euros, was calculated taking into account the jurisprudence in the matter. For the family of Patrizia Cormos, the requested damages amount to 1,269,000 euros, for the Biancai Doros – 1,200,000 euros, and for the family of Cristian Molnar -, 1,243,000 euros. A total of three million and 700 thousand euros. The damage was calculated according to a unique national table and according to the jurisprudence in this matter.

At the end of January this year, the Prosecutor's Office in Udine made, a thorough chronological reconstruction of the tragedy, indicating a number of possible delays and omissions that could have compromised the rescue operations.

According to the reconstruction, the first alarm signal was transmitted on May 31, 2024 by calling the unique emergency number 112, at 13:29:42.

The appeal was performed by Patrizia Cormos, who did everything he could to save his friends. Although he knew how to swim and could have tried to save himself when he was not too late, the girl remained two young people.

The young woman pointed out that she was in Premariacco, on the river of the Natisone river, near Ponte Romano, “Blocked with two other people, like an island ”and the water level increased, seeing with his eyes.

The call was transferred, in less than two minutes to the operative room of the firefighters in Udine.

His situation was rapidly aggravated. At 13:36:44, Patrizia made a second call, reiterating that the water level increases very quickly.

The third call, made at 13:48:48, was even more dramatic-the young woman explained that she and the two companions are about to be taken by water and expressly requested to send a helicopter.

Patrizia tried to follow the instructions received, but the call was placed.

The prosecutor's office emphasizes that the closest medical helicopter, with the indicative “Doppio India”, stationed at the base of the Air Force in Pasian Di Prato (Friuli-Venezia Giulia region), “He could have reached the incident site in about 12–13 minutes” if it had been activated promptly. But this did not happen.

The criminal investigation is to establish to what extent the delays and possible omissions in the coordination and activation of the means of intervention have contributed to the tragic denomination.
