On March 10, the authors of the Ukrainian Instagram blog “Academy for the Development of a Healthy Society” shared a selection of cool spring rituals that will help you concentrate on yourself, your desires and give you the opportunity to learn something new.
During execution, it is important to concentrate not on the result, but on the process.
Morning rituals
- Set the table beautifully in advance and have breakfast without your phone. Just eat and look out the window.
- Get out before the city wakes up. These 30 minutes of silence are the most precious thing that spring can give.
- Find a coffee shop you've never been to before and just relax.
- Write three pages of stream of consciousness in the spring air. Ask yourself: “What do I really want right now?”
- A picnic on your own without rushing on the first spring grass.
- Walk barefoot through the first greenery. It literally grounds you, both physically and emotionally.
- Make yourself a spa date at home by preparing a bath with salts, a mask, candles, and turn on some music. Treat yourself like a valued guest.
- Dance in the kitchen by making a playlist of songs that tear you apart from the inside. Turn it on full blast and move without rules.
- Do yoga or stretching outside by laying out a mat in the park or yard. The first rays of spring on the skin are a separate type of tenderness.
Become a tourist in your city
- Take a walk to parts of the city you've never been to without using Google Maps.
- Organize a street photo shoot, photographing only what catches you: details, shadows, flowers between the tiles.
- Visit a museum or gallery, focusing on just one room or one painting.
- Visit a used book market and buy a book you like.
- Give yourself a bouquet.
- Go to a movie that no one around you cares about. A big screen, a bucket of popcorn – and complete freedom to react.
Something for the soul
- Draw what is visible from the window. The skill level doesn't matter.
- Make a spring collage from old magazines, scissors, and glue. Create the image of a “perfect spring day.”
- Write a letter to your future self, seal the envelope and sign: “Open in the fall.” Think about what you want to tell yourself in six months.
- Prepare something new or unusual while listening to music.
- Just write down a few lines about your feelings.
- Rearrange furniture or decor to suit the mood.
Things to do for the mind
- Read in the park for at least two hours, taking a thermos with you.
- Pick a thought-provoking podcast and go for a walk.
- Watch the new documentary.
- Without thinking, make a list of 100 things that make you happy.
