A tragic queue disaster in Lisbon. The Polish consul took the floor


The diplomat said that he was in constant contact with Portuguese services, which did not confirm that Poles were killed or injured in a tragic event. He explained that until late evening on Wednesday he did not receive any information from close Poles, who could suffer in any way in a tragic event in the Lisbon old town, which took place on Wednesday after 18 local time for still unexplained reasons.

Late in the evening, the management of Portuguese emergency medical services (Inem) announced that among the killed and wounded there were foreigners and citizens of Portugal. According to witnesses of the tragedy connecting the capital Restauradores Square with the Bairro Alto queue, the rails fell out of the railway, hitting the nearby building. The vehicle was completely destroyed.
Portugal announced mourning
On Wednesday before midnight, some of the access roads to the old town were closed, because at the site of the tragedy there is still work to determine the causes of the accident. In the evening statement, Inem specified that, as a result of the disaster, 18 people were injured, five of whom are in severe condition. Among the wounded there is a three -year -old child.
In the case of the Gloria queue, the Gloria went to three Lisbon hospitals, as well as two medical facilities located outside the capital: in Cascais and Amador.
On Wednesday evening, the Portuguese government announced that Thursday would be a day of national mourning throughout the country. In Lisbon, the capital's authorities also announced mourning. It will start on Thursday and will last three days.
