It was the third meeting of Witkoff with Putin since February. They were organized at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg.
The Kremlin issued only a short message after him: “The head of the Russian state talked to the special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff (…). The meeting concerned the aspects of the Ukrainian regulation (issue)”.
Putin's advisor Kiriłł Dmitrijew said that Friday's conversations were productive – Reuters says, citing Russian agencies.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pieskov reserved earlier that One should not expect a diplomatic breakthrough on Friday in the matter of war in Ukraine – reports AFP.
Pieskow also announced that Putin and Witkoff can discuss the plan of the meeting of the presidents of the US and Russia
Before talking to Putin, Trump's envoy met with Dmitryjew.
Last week, Witkoff hosted Dmitrijew in Washington. It was the first visit of a high -ranking Russian official in the US capital since Russia began a full -size invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
