Poland Ministry of Internal Affairs announced work on the settlement of Ukrainians status


2On August 5, President of Poland Karol Navrotsky said that imposed a veto lawregulating assistance to Ukrainians (social payments and free medical care) during the war with the aggressor country of Russia, and promised to submit a new one. He emphasized the need for “certain social justice” and added that the Poles in his state should be “at least at the level with our guests from Ukraine”.

The representative of the department Karolina Galetskaya confirmed the meeting of the Ukrainian ambassador to Warsaw Vasily Bodnar with the deputy head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs by Matsey Duchik. Consultations took place on the initiative of the Ukrainian side, Galetskaya noted.

She added that the Dushchik presented the Ukrainian side with a schedule of work on the relevant document.

Bodnar reported that the rights of Ukrainian citizens to accommodate, labor, education, social assistance and medical care will be guaranteed after October 1, 2025, but individual practical issues will need to be clarified.

Context

Navrotsky stated that the Rodzina 800+ social initiative guaranteeing a monthly payment of 800 zlotys (approximately 9 thousand UAH) for each child under 18, should only apply to those Ukrainians who take the obligation to work in Poland.

According to the Office of the UN Supreme Commissioner for Refugees, more than 5 million Ukrainians have left for a full -scale war from the beginning of a full -scale war. As of July 31, 2025, according to the UN UNHC, there are more than 1 million Ukrainians in Poland.
