Banderowski symbol on an equal footing with a swastika and sickle. The president announces the amendment to the Penal Code

President Karol Nawrocki announced on Monday a legislative initiative, which in the penal code will balance the “Banderian symbol” with Nazi and communist symbols. We should include a clear slogan in the bill: Stop Banderism – said the president.

Nawrocki said on a press briefing that the presidential project had a “basic component for Poles.”

– To eliminate Russian propaganda and set Polish-Ukrainian relations on real partnership and mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, I recognize that we should include a clear slogan in the bill: Stop Banderism and the Criminal Code, level the Banderian symbol with symbols, which correspond to the German national socialism, commonly named Nazism, Soviet communism and corrections to the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance – the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation in relation to the CUN -UPA crime – said the president.

He added that these solutions are in the interest of the Polish national community and good relations with Ukraine, which should be built on the foundation of justice, truth and against Russian propaganda.

Nawrocki announced that the presidential project assumes that the process of granting citizenship will be extended from three to 10 years and increasing the penalty for illegally crossing the border to 5 years imprisonment. (PAP)
