Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański dispels hopes for a quick expansion of the state's social policy. The head of the Ministry of Finance makes it clear: in the face of the tense geopolitical situation and the need for gigantic expenditures on the army, “the space for new social programs in the budget has simply run out.”

The priority for the coming years is hard security and defense, which are expected to consume a record share of GDP. The minister assures that existing benefits, such as 800+, are not at risk, but the government cannot afford to make further expensive election promises.

Instead of new cash transfers, the Ministry of Finance wants to focus on investments and stimulating economic growth. As Domański emphasizes, a strong economy and a modern army, not more benefits, are to guarantee Poland's stability in uncertain times.

I have been involved in economic journalism since the late 1990s. Recently, I have been interested in data journalism and new information formulas, but for years I have been dealing with macroeconomics and public finances, and I also manage an economic portal. In 2022, I was recognized as the economic journalist of the year and honored with the Grand Press Economy award. I have been at Puls Biznesu since 2024 and one of my tasks is to research the intersection of politics and entrepreneurship and check how the former affects the latter.
