“Today, if I am to be honest, we use our long -distance weapon of our own production. And recently, to be honest, we do not discuss it with the United States. It was once that, you remember when there were different signals on our attacks in response to their (Russians – PAP) attacks on our energy,” said Zelanski.

The president met with Carney in Kiev on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine. At a joint conference, he thanked the soldiers who are fighting in Donbas, talking about the “positive results” of their activities in this region.

“Today, on the day of Ukraine's independence, I would like to thank our soldiers separately. They have very good results in strokes for a long distance, everyone can see it. And today we have very, very good results in Donbass. Good surprises for the Russians, about which later will be informed by the chief commander (Ukrainian army)” – he emphasized.

Carney did not rule out that Canadian troops could become part of the international peace contingent in Ukraine. “We work with our allies, a coalition and Ukraine over the conditions of security guarantee (for Ukraine) on earth, in the air and at sea. I would not exclude military presence,” he said.

Zelanski, referring to a guarantee of security, said that nobody expected them from Russia. “We are not talking about security guarantees from Russia. We are talking about security guarantees that will defend us against Russia,” he noted.

The President of Ukraine drew attention to Canada's readiness to join the PURL defense support program; He expressed gratitude for the declaration that Canada would transfer USD 500 million for this purpose.

Mark Carney, who visited Kiev for the first time as the prime minister, previously announced that Ukraine would receive from his country assistance to defense of $ 1 billion. Two countries intend to cooperate, among others in the reconstruction of Ukraine and the production of drones.
