We have reached the Poland 2050 voting tool

Although this information was not included in the party's announcements, through deduction and unofficial channels, Business Insider managed to confirm that the tool used in Poland 2050 voting was Interankiety.pl — the Polish platform was created in 2011, and for several years now it has been developing outside our country as Responsly. The tool operates in two models – a free one, with very limited functionalities, and a paid one, using a subscription ranging from PLN 129 to PLN 299 per month.
For the purposes of the material, we tried to recreate the voting survey for the new president, which was sent to Poland 2050 members, to check what technical possibilities this tool offers and what mistakes could have been made along the way that would have prevented the elections from being held until the end.
First, what screenshots of the vote were shared by party members on social media.

Taking into account the font, interface and visuals, we managed to do it in a simple way recreate the survey itself and look into what technical parameters its founders could have assigned to it.
Creating a voting panel itself is extremely simple. Using the wizard, we can indicate the initial screen, ask one or more questions and add our own final page with an appropriate message. The graphic theme chosen by Poland 2050 is the default one with white and blue colors.

Of course, we are interested in the card with the question itself, which, when recreated with the default settings, looks like this:

And so in the view of the recipient to whom the survey was sent.

The main difference between this version and the version we created is: of course, the shape of the box to mark the candidate. In the default version – the question is a single-choice question, then a round icon appears next to the candidate's name. But it is possible to modify the default settings – and uncheck the multi-select options. In practice, you could vote for two candidates at the same time.

After adjusting the parameters, the version of the recreated survey that was sent to Poland 2050 members looked identical to the original posted by party members on social media.

Multiple choice is the first potential problem that could have skewed the results and forced the party to stop voting. But not the only one.
The information obtained by Business Insider clearly shows that although voting was supposed to last until a specific hour, the link that was sent to vote – at some point it stopped working.
There may actually be two reasons for this situation – the organizers themselves prematurely disabled the survey from the options on the platform. The panel that allows this looks like this:

However, we can also find other options which, if unchecked, could cause additional confusion on the platform. The key seems to be the need to manually block the possibility of multiple votes. If you don't do this, just refresh the window and you can vote again.

This option is only available if the survey organizer has a paid package. This is a clue to further potential problems – depending on the package, the response limit in a single survey varies significantly.
Free version – allows you to cast only 50 votesafter which, when trying to enter the survey, we see the following message:
Voting – message about the inactive form
In a situation where the organizer manually turns off the survey, the screen looks identical, but the message at the top is slightly different.

Of course, limits also exist in paid versions – the Premium package has them block for 500 votesand the Business package – 1000 votes. There is also an Enterprise version, where there is no set response limit. However, we are unable to clearly state which package Poland 2050 used.

Interankiety.pl
In the case of multiple votes being cast from the same device – of course, this is visible in the form of an individual, anonymized identifier that cannot be easily assigned to a specific person. In the settings panel you only see random strings of characters.

Interankiety.pl
Although when you buy a more expensive version and select, for example, access only by invitation via e-mail, individual votes can be assigned to specific people. However, information in the public space shows that Poland 2050 has not decided on this model. Instead, form was chosen sending voting linkswhich could also fall into the hands of unauthorized voters.

Additional security features that can be used on the platform but may not have been used include: possibility of setting a password required before completing the survey. If it were set, even if people from outside Poland 2050 gained access to the survey, it would not be possible to cast a valid vote.
The tool itself does not differ significantly from the standard adopted on the market, and the available options seem – at least at the basic level – to meet the needs related to the need to conduct safe, private voting. However, many options are not enabled by default and require appropriate settings on the organizer's side. The idea of being able to vote for both candidates at the same time is also not fully understood, and this – together with potential technical problems, vote limits or the possibility of multiple voting – could have turned out to be an obstacle that defeated the organizers of the internal elections.
