Macron, Merz and Tusk will fly to Moldova. Support for sovereignty and European aspirations
The visit is to take place on August 27 at the invitation of the President of Moldova Maja Sandu on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of independence. Merz, Macron and Tusk “will confirm their full support for the safety, sovereignty and European Moldova Way” – informs the office of the French head of the state.
Also on August 27, President Karol Nawrocki convened a meeting of the cabinet council – that is, the government's meetings under the leadership of the president, at which the issues of the state budget, public finance situations, as well as strategic infrastructure investments and challenges facing Polish agriculture are to be discussed.
On September 28, parliamentary elections will take place in Moldova. Sandu has been alerting for a long time that Russia is preparing unprecedented interference in the election process. “The Russian Federation wants to control Moldova, starting from autumn,” she told journalists at the time.
