Internal checks on Radio Romania, after Cătălin Țone, accused of plagiarizing two doctorates, was invited to a show without asking about the charges

The general director of the Romanian Broadcasting Society (SRR), Răzvan Dincă, said on Monday that he will do internal checks after Cătălin Țone, former head of the Anti -Drug Service in the Capital Police, was present at the Radio Romania Activiti (RRA), without being asked about the plagiarism accusations revealed by Pressone. It was Țone's first public appearance after publishing, on Sunday night, an investigation that shows that he would have plagiarized both doctoral theses.

“I do not know, I did not listen to the morning show, I do not know the subject. I read about what you say, but I did not know that he was invited in the show in the show and anyway, as far as I am concerned, I can not intervene on the editorial, to say what questions to ask or what questions to ask the reporters or I can see something. I will be interested in the show and I will not be interested, but I do not know what to tell you at this time, “said the director of SRR for Pressone.

Asked about Țone's status within RRA, the director of SRR said he would check if there was any contract. According to Pressone, Țone is recommended for permanent and coralizer guest in the public radio shows.

“I do not know how to exist this term of coralizer and we do not have this permanent guest structure. I do not know how to have a contract between us and Cătălin Țone, but I will check. There are many radio contracts.”

He also said that the selection of guests and discussion topics are exclusively for editors and filmmakers.

“It is full freedom of the filmmakers and the editors and they decide these collaborations according to the interest that the respective grid has or the type of show that it is,” explained the director of SRR.

“I will ask the editor-in-chief and the director of the Radio Romania Actualities about what it was about and I will listen to my own ears. The editorial deals with the choice of collaborators.

Invited to a public radio show, the former drug chief was not asked about plagiarism charges

Cătălin Țone entered directly around 9.00 in the public radio morning and spoke about some types of drugs, explaining their effects. The name of the section to which the former head of the anti -drug is constantly “addicted to #antidrog. Live at #rra, with Daniela Petrican and the anti -drug expert Cătălin Țone”.

In the 13 minutes, his intervention lasted on the public radio, Țone did not receive any questions related to the plagiarism charges.

In the Live chat on the Facebook page “Romania Actualities”, where the live show was sent, some followers asked about the plagiarism accusations.

Contacted by Hotnews, Cătălin Țone said he did not discuss with the RRA moderator about the investigation published in Pressone even before the start of the live show.

Hotnews and Pressone requested a point of view from RRA on this topic. Until the publication of this article, I did not receive an answer.

When the journalists from Pressone asked for a point of view on plagiarism, Cătălin Țone threatened to sue the editorial and request moral damages if “in the articles published by me, you will use terms such as” plagiarism “,” academic fraud “and others similar”.

Pressone: Cătălin Țone plagiarized into two doctoral works

Cătălin Țone, a pensioner, who is currently remunerated by the National Anti-Doping Agency, subordinated to the Government of Romania, plagiarized into two doctoral works, shows a Presson investigation.

According to the quoted source, Țone, former head of the Anti -Drug Service in the Capital Police and permanently invited in the TV studios as an expert in combating drug trafficking and consumption, obtained two doctor titles, in 2011, at a distance of only 36 days: one from the “Al. I. Cuza” Police Academy, the other at the National University “Carol I”.

The two doctoral theses “have an identical content of over 40%, self -plagiarized text, and over 70% plagiarized text – and do not include any original research corpus, an indispensable legal condition for obtaining a doctor title”, according to Pressone, who studied the two scientific works and published their transcribed content.

The central theme of both works is the same: drug trafficking and consumption, the field in which Țone worked as a policeman for almost two decades, occupying exclusively leadership positions.

In addition to the high percentage of identical content and the identity of many footnotes, in the two theses are the same writing mistakes, including the word “Exxperitis”.
