US President Donald Trump joked on the disagreements with Spain on defense expenses, during his final speech from the summit dedicated to the conclusion of the Gaza war that took place in Egypt on Monday, attended by the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who asked if he “works.”

In the middle of a long and unleashed speech, in which Trump congratulated each of the leaders present at the meeting for their role in bringing peace in the Middle East, the US president spoke in a relaxed and obviously friendly tone about Spain and his recent statements about the opportunity to expulsion of the Iberian country in NATO due to its lack of commitment.

Sanchez was located right behind Trump, in a group of other heads of state and government, including Italy's premiers, Georgia Meloni, the United Kingdom, Keir Stramer, and Canada, Mark Carry, among others.

“Who is from Spain? Do you work with him (with Sanchez, no) regarding the GDP? We will come back to this. But do a fantastic job (regarding the peace efforts in Gaza, no),” said Trump. Although the tone of the US president was joking, the leaders behind him were rather detained and were limited only to display slight smiles on his face.

In fact, international leaders have listened with increasingly eagerness for the American president's speech, in which Trump had jokes and lingers for everyone, commented the Spanish press agency, according to Agerpres.

A few hours earlier, Sanchez and Trump greet themselves cordially and smiled at the arrival of the American president at the Peace Summit for the Gaza strip at Sharm El-Hiikh, where he arrived with great delay.

Four days after proposing the exit of Spain from NATO, the US president expected Sanchez with a smile on his lips. The two raised their hands, and the Spanish prime minister smiled at him, when they changed a few words.

While posing for reporters, Trump, as he did with other leaders, was lightly pulled on Sanchez by the arm, and the Spanish Prime Minister has shorted his hand on the back of the US President.

Trump co-feed the summit at Sharm El Sheikh together with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Sanchez counted among the 30 leaders and heads of international organizations invited to the meeting.

After Trump proposed the withdrawal of Spain from NATO, the Spanish government declared extremely relaxed, because Spain is a full and employee member of NATO and meets its objectives as much as the United States.

At the last NATO summit, Spain was the only member country that did not commit to allocate 5% of GDP (gross domestic product) for defense expenses, which caused criticism from the White House leader.
