The French President Emmanuel Macron called on the “pressure” on Russia on Saturday as long as “a solid and lasting peace is not reached, which respects Ukraine's rights,” France Presse, Reuters and Agerpres.
In a message posted on X following the various diplomatic contacts following the Alaska summit between the American and Russian presidents, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Macron appreciated that it is “essential to draw all the teachings of these 30 years and especially from Russia's well-known tendency not to hold their own commitments.”
“It is indispensable to continue to support Ukraine and to exert pressure on Russia as long as its continuous war of aggression,” wrote the head of the French state.
He said that European leaders continued their opinions after Saturday morning talks with US President Donald Trump.

In the same message, the French president welcomes the “availability of the United States” to contribute to the security guarantees for Ukraine who should accompany any peace agreement.
The meeting in Alaska between President Trump and Putin did not result in concrete results, the two leaders ending the discussions without making any statement about a possible cessation of fire in Ukraine.
Russia wants Ukraine to transfer four regions partially by its forces (Donetk, Lugansk, Zaporojie and Herson), apart from the Crimea Peninsula already attached to Moscow in 2014, and to give up Western weapons to Kiev and any intention to accessing NATO.
These requirements are unacceptable to Kiev, which wants an unconditional and immediate ceasing and solid security guarantees.
