The passing week brought a continuation of small reductions in the average retail fuel prices in Poland. Noteworthy is primarily the regression of autogas prices, which on average on the national scale was tanked the cheapest since February 2022.

In the second full week of August, the PB95 gas was paid on average PLN 5.83i.e. 4 grosze less than a week ago – according to BM Reflex data. Diesel cost on average 5.97 PLN/l, So 4 grosze per liter less than last week. To the level 2.67 PLN/l (i.e. -3 gr/l) The average retail price of autogas has decreased. This The lowest average LPG price in over 3 years.

Remember that we write about average prices in the whole country. Prices at individual stations may vary by up to several dozen pennies per liter, depending on the location and strength of local competition.
Although it was the seventh in a row a decrease in average retail prices, the prices displayed on pylons generally did not return to the value from mid -June. PB95 and he are on average 10 gr/li 27 gr/l, respectively, than they were two months ago. This shows how slow the pace of lowering the price lists by retailers was and that fuel prices still have a lot of space for further discounts.

However, it is still cheaper than a year ago. PB95 gasoline average costs 53 gr/l less than in mid -August 2024. The average retail price of diesel for the previous 12 months decreased by 41 gr/l. We refuel autogas for 9 gr/l less than a year ago.
Prices in wholesale are faster than in the detail
The joy at slightly lower prices at distributors should not be overcome by the fact that prices in refineries fall much faster than in the detail. This is due to changes in world markets. Gasoline in New York for the first time since April costs less than two dollars per gallon. In turn, diesel in London is valued at approx. 655 USD/t – the lowest since mid -June.
The price lists of Polish refineries have already reacted to this state of affairs. On August 14, Orlen offered Eurosuper 95 gas 4446 PLN/m3, which after adding 23% VAT gives approx. 5.47 PLN/l (excise duty and other parapodates are already included in the wholesale price). And this is already 36 gr/l less than the average retail price. Hence, the decrease in the latter by even 10-15 gr/l would be convergent with the historical parameters of the retail margin.
Even more discounts have the right to expect a diesel car owners. Ekodiesel diesel in the Thursday price list of the Płock refinery was 4520 PLN/m3, or approx. 5.56 PLN/l gross. In this arrangement, the implied retail margin is as much as 41 gr/li is twice as high as for many years.
As usual, it is worth recalling that fuels could be much cheaper were it not for the taxes imposed by the authorities. From each liter of gasoline or diesel, over 50% of the state goes into the hands of the state. Without tribute to the government, we could refuel PB95 gasoline around PLN 2.60, diesel oil after approx. PLN 2.75.
