Ukraine threw reservations in the heavy battles in Pokrovsk. The stake of the battle before the Trump-Putin summit

The Ukrainian army said on Tuesday that she was engaged in heavy fights near Pokrovsk and Dobropilia, on the front of eastern Ukraine, and sent reservations to get back to Russian troops, reports Reuters, taken over by Agerpres.

The Russian army has achieved a sudden piercing near the mining city of Dobropilia, an offensive that could follow the increase in the pressure on Kiev before the summit they will have in Alaska on the Russian and American presidents, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

Various assessments of the situation on the front

Ukraine tries to minimize this Russian advancement, claiming that it is only “small groups” of Russian soldiers trying to infiltrate behind the Ukrainian lines and to “destroy” these groups.

The front maps of the Ukrainian platform of military analysis Deepsate show, however, that in the last days the Russian units have advanced at least ten kilometers in two directions, within an offensive that could follow in the long term to obtain the complete control over the Donetk province.

According to the same platform, exploiting the insufficiency of the Ukrainian army's battle staff, the Russian troops exceeded three villages on the front sector where the cities of Kostiantinivka and Pokrovsk are located, the latter trying to circle it for a long time. “The situation is quite chaotic, as the enemy, who has identified gaps in our defense, is increasingly infiltrating, tries to consolidate quickly and accumulate forces for other advancements,” explains Deeptate.

However, the Ukrainian military analysts believe that the Ukrainian army has the ability to neutralize this threat, especially since Russian advancement takes place on a narrow corridor, where Russian troops risk falling under circle and are exposed on the flanks of potentially devastating Ukrainian counterattacks.

The chief commander of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Sîrski, ordered the development of reinforcements “to detect and destroy the enemy sabotage groups that penetrate the defensive line,” said a spokesman for the Ukrainian army, Andrii Kovalov.

He states that the Russian army uses its numerical superiority to try to infiltrate Ukrainian defense lines, but claim that these attempts would have been thwarted and caused great losses to the enemy. Another Ukrainian military spokesman Viktor Trehubov has also minimized this evolution, saying that Russian infiltration is not an important discovery of the front.

In contrast, a military analyst of the Finnish reflection center (Think-Tank) Black Bird Group, Pasi Paroinen, speaks of a rapid deterioration of the situation of the Ukrainian defense, the Russian forces infiltrating beyond the Ukrainian lines to a depth of about 17 kilometers in the last three days. “The most advanced Russian units would have reached the road between Dobropilia and Kramatorsk, and Russian infiltration groups were reported near Dobropilia,” notes the quoted analyst.

However, the Ukrainian blog of Tatarigami_ua military analysis notes that, although “the current situation is serious, it is far from the collapse suggested by some.” The elite Ukrainian body Azov was also carried out for a stop of Russian advance. “The situation is dynamic and complex. The enemy undergoes significant losses of staff and equipment,” says Azov Battalion, in a message on Telegram.

“A gift for Putin and Trump”

During this time, a former Kremlin counselor, Sergei Markov, states that the Russian units managed to advance due to “a partial collapse of the front” due to the insufficient number of the Ukrainian army.

“This piercing is like a gift for Putin and Trump” in the negotiations that will take place on Friday, Markov believes, suggesting that Russian advance could increase the pressure on Kiev to give up some territories to prevent the Russian army of the entire Donetk province. But to achieve this, Russian forces should first take control over Slavian, Kramatorsk, Drujkivka and Kostantinivka, which Russian military analysts describe as “fortress cities”.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenskii publicly rejected the idea of giving up Russia. But Zelenski was alerted on the Social Network X by a former commander of the Azov Battalion, Bogdan Krotevici, of the “total defringolada” of the Ukrainian troops on the front line. “The employment line as a fixed line no longer exists today,” he noted.

Trump and Putin are expected to discuss a possible agreement in Alaska on Friday to put an end to the Ukraine. According to the American press, Russia would have proposed to stop the offensive along the current line of the front in the provinces of Zaporojie and Herson, located in southeast and southern Ukraine, and withdraw their troops from the provinces of Dnipropetrovsk (Center), Sumî (North) and Kharkov (North-East), but only in exchange for the Donbas Region, respectively Donetsk and Lugansk provinces in eastern Ukraine. The province of Lugansk is the only one that the Russian army has managed to occupy almost completely, while part of Donetk is still under Ukrainian control.
