The Supreme Court decides today whether to appeal to the CCR the law on the payment of private pensions

The judges of the High Court of Cassation will discuss today, October 16, in the meeting, whether or not to attack the draft law on the payment of private pensions, which was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday, at the Constitutional Court.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
“On October 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., the judges of the supreme court are summoned to form United Sections in order to exercise the attribution provided by the provisions of art. 27 li. b of Law 304/2022 on judicial organization. Agenda of the meeting: Referral to the Constitutional Court in order to exercise constitutionality control, before promulgation, on the Law on the payment of pensions private (PL-x no. 320/2025)”, it is stated in a press release of the ÎCCJ.
The draft law initiated by the Bolojan Government, which provides for the modification of the way money can be withdrawn from private pensions, was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, on Wednesday, as a decision-making body. 178 votes “for”, 64 votes against and 22 abstentions were registered.
The law provides that, upon retirement, Romanians will be able to withdraw as an advance only 30% of the accumulated amount, and the rest of the amount will be staggered for payment over at least 8 years. The exception will be cancer patients and people with accumulated funds lower than 12 times the value of the minimum pension, who will be able to withdraw all the money in one installment.
