Donald Trump announced on Friday that, according to American data, Russia has lost more than 112,000 soldiers in the war in Ukraine, about 20,000 in July, Kyiv Independent reports.

“I have just been informed that almost 20,000 Russian soldiers died this month in the ridiculous war with Ukraine. Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year,” the US president wrote on a social network, Social Truth.

Trump called the situation as “a useless loss of human lives.”

The US president added that Ukraine suffered a lot, revealing that about 8,000 soldiers died from January 1, 2025, and this number does not include disappearance.

“Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in a smaller number, following the Russian rockets that hit Kiev and other Ukrainian localities. This is a war that should never take place. I am just here to see if I can stop it!”, Wrote Trump.

No accurate, independent, verifiable data on the total losses of each part on the battlefield are available. According to daily figures published by the General Staff of Ukraine, Russia lost a total of 33,220 soldiers in July, reaching a total figure of 1,054,200 for the entire period of the war. The balance of the General Staff does not specify whether only the dead or wounded soldiers are included.

President Volodimir Zelenski said on February 16 that more than 46,000 Ukrainian soldiers died on the battlefield of February 2022.
