A “water” district is being built in Szczecin. We were in place

The center of Szczecin is cut with measles, but in the middle of the river there are islands with a difficult history. For example, Kępa Parnicka still remembers the times of Swedish rule when fortifications were created there. Then there was even a silverworks there, and during World War II – when the city was German – a temporary labor camp was created there. At the end of this conflict, the island – like most of the city – was razed with the ground by the Allied raids.
Then long – despite the location in the city center – little was happening in Kępa Parnnicka. There were warehouses or depots – but almost nobody lived there. Recently, however, the area is experiencing an investment boom. Kępa Parnicka and part of the second “central” island – Łasztownia – begin to create a large housing district. The islands are created, among others Housing estate “nad Odrą” JW Construction. Next to the large housing estate, he builds ATAL, which will consist of a 16-story skyscraper. The local developer Siemaszko builds its estate, but the largest part of the investment is the Dewelopera Budnex housing estate – announcements talk about up to 1,000. apartments.
“Water District”
When the investments are completed, it will probably be the largest “island” housing estate in a large city in Poland – much larger, e.g. than the Gdańsk Island of Granary. This island from Gdańsk, however, is full of superluxury apartments – and one of them was supposedly sold for almost PLN 25 million. Szczecin investments are, of course, much more modest – most have prices from 10 to 20 thousand. PLN However, there are quite prestigious apartments, some of the JW Construction investments have 140 sq m and provide a view of the Oder and the City Center.

Of course, buyers of apartments often buy premises for investment purposes. They hope that the “island” apartments will gain value in subsequent years. Marines, which are to be created in investments, are to help in this. – The idea is to be able to “park” your motorboat or your little yacht and be able to swim on the Szczecin Lagoon or the nearby Dąbie Lake – one of the buyers of the apartments explains to us.

Activists are not impressed
Not everyone in Szczecin is of course lovers of project in the Islands. Some recall the example of the Granary Island in Gdańsk. There, the former storage island turned into a super -fashionable location with hotels or restaurants. Only apartments are to be built in Szczecin. On the local Website.pl website, some time ago, urban planners complained that it would be a “bedroom”, not a place that could “pulsate with life”. The city activists, in turn, complained that the shape of the islands was decided by developers who turn the area into a “machine to earn money”.

When will work on the islands end? One stage of the JW Construction estate is ready. Some apartments in the Budnex developer estate are also completed. In the case of the second, the work has recently started. The Atal estate is to be ready in 2026. The same is about to be in the case of the “Nowa Przystań” housing estate from Siemaszko.
