The independent candidate Nicușor Dan, who won the final of the presidential elections, sent a special message of thanks to the Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova for their vote at this poll.
“A special thought of gratitude and thanks to the Romanian citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Together, with confidence and hope, we will continue our European path,” wrote Nicușor Dan, on his Facebook page.
“I thank the lady of President Maia Sandu for the congratulatory message and for the support of these days,” added the president elected.
Earlier, the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had congratulated the winner of the presidential elections in Romania, Nicușor Dan, and thanked the Moldovans with Romanian citizenship for “again, a strong voice for freedom and democracy.”
“Congratulations, Romania! Congrats, Nicușor Dan! Romania, we go with confidence on the European road! The Republic of Moldova and Romania are based on each other-and for good,” wrote Maia Sandu, in a Facebook post.

“Dear Moldovans with Romanian citizenship at home and from all over the world, you have, again, a strong voice for freedom and democracy! I thank you all for the impressive participation in the elections. See us a whole world what power we have!”, Said the President of the Republic of Moldova.
In the second round of the presidential elections, over 11.64 million people voted, representing a presence at ballot of 64.72%. 158,143 people voted in the Republic of Moldova.
In the neighboring country, Nicușor Dan obtained 88% of the votes expressed, according to the data of the central electoral authorities (AEP).
