On Thursday, the Cypriot police found the bodies of two people in a burned car, near a fire spread south of the Troodos mountain range. The fire consumed over 120 km of forest areas there, destroyed many houses and forced the evacuation of the inhabitants of several villages.
Ministry of the Interior of Cyprus appealed to the evacuation of all camping fields in the Troodos mountain band. Cypriot Red Cross and other organizations offered help to dozens of people who lost their homes. Minister of Justice Marios Hartsiotis announced that 100 people evacuated from the affected areas went to temporary shelters.
Several countries promised to help Cyprus
250 firefighters, 75 fire trucks and 14 aircraft participate in the fire -fighting fire – said the Associated Press agency. The police are investigating whether there has been a purposeful arson.

The Cyprus Mail portal announced that fire aircraft sent to the island of Egypt, Greece, the European Union and Great Britain. The Associated Press agency added that the bands from Spain, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon are also flying on Cyprus.
Cyprus President Nicos Christodouldes said that the state is currently dealing with “unprecedented situation”.
– We have never watched something similar in Cyprus before – said the Cypriot leader.
